The Spanish Deputy PM Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega thinks keeping ETA member Iñaki de Juana Chaos means a "calming effect" in the view of the "terrible outrage" his release would mean.

Fernandez de la Vega has rejected an "ad homine" trial is being opened. The Justice has acted faced with "a series of facts", that is what has happened.

"De Juana's imprisonment has a calming effect in the view of the decision that caused a terrible outrage, as he committed serious crimes, and caused an understanding indignation among citizens" she has said. Besides, she has stressed de Juana's release would not have been allowed if he were judged by the current Penalty Code.

In the view of adopting the decision of stopping the release among different ETA members, she has said the matter cannot be generalised. "We must analyse each case" has assured.
