Former Austrian kidnapping victim Natascha Kampusch has appeared in court in a case against a man who claims her mother was involved in her abduction.

Kampusch testified behind closed doors Thursday in the southern city of Graz. Her mother, Brigitta Sirny, is suing Martin Wabl, a retired judge, who says he became suspicious shortly after Kampusch's disappearance in 1998.

Kampusch was 10 when Wolfgang Priklopil abducted her on her way to school. He held the girl for the next 8 1/2 years, most of the time in the tiny underground cell in his home in a quiet Vienna suburb. Kampusch escaped in August 2006, and Priklopil threw himself in front of a train hours later.
