Matteo Priamo wins sixth stage of Giro

Priamo finished the 231-kilometer leg from Potenza to Peschici in 5 hours, 24 minutes, 49 seconds. Visconti took the leader's pink jersey from Franco Pellizotti, who held the lead for four days.

Matteo Priamo won the sixth stage of the Giro d'Italia on Thursday after breaking from the pack late in the race, and Giovanni Visconti took the overall lead.

Priamo, who rides for CSF Group-Navigare, finished the 231-kilometer (144-mile) leg from Potenza to Peschici in 5 hours, 24 minutes, 49 seconds.

Alan Perez Lezaun of Spain finished 8 seconds behind, followed by Nikolai Trussov of Russia, 27 seconds behind.

Visconti, who rides for Quickstep, took the leader's pink jersey from Franco Pellizotti, who held the lead for four days.

The Giro continues Friday with a 180-kilometer (112-mile) leg from Vasco to Pescocostanzo.
