It is not easy for the Serbians to vote in favor of the European Union. For many of them, the European Union is guilty about Kosovo's independence. Besides, they do not forget that the head of European diplomacy Javier Solana was Secretary General of NATO nine years ago when this organization bombed Serbia, precisely to send the Serbian army out of Kosovo.

The winner of the elections yesterday was Boris Tadic’s Democratic Party, who defends forgetting the past and getting closer to the European Union.

The speech of the Radical Party of Tomislav Nikolic is more nationalist, it closes the door to the European union and calls to get Kosovo back.

The Radical Party won elections a year ago, so it would be logical if they won them now again, when the loss of Kosovo has already been carried out. Nevertheless, surprisingly the pro-Europeans have been the ones who won.

It seems that the UE Stabilization and Association Agreement signing has produced effect and has convinced many Serbians about the fact that European Union is prepared to open their doors if they forget about what happened during the Milosevic's time.

Pro-Europeans have been far from getting absolute majority so that a three party coalition would be needed to form the Government. Radical Party won a year ago, but could not govern, and Tadic's Democratic Party could go through the same situation.

The irony of fate, late Milosevic's Socialist Party has the key.
