Esther Larrañaga has presented the guidelines of this project, which includes 119 measures with a 90 million euros budget. EHAK has asked for its return to Basque Government.

The Basque Plan Against Climate Change 2008-2012 made by Basque government has obtained the support of the Conservative Opposition Popular Party PP and Basque Socialist party PSE-EE, while the Communist Party of the Basque Lands have declared their opposition about it and has asked for its return to Basque Government.

Ministry of the Environment Esther Larrañaga has presented today on assignment in Basque Parliament the guidelines of this project, which includes 119 measures to combat climate change, with a 90 million euros budget.

She has reminded that CO2 emissions in the Basque Country have increased 22 percent since 1990 and the established objective for 2012 is that the increase must be reduced to 14 percent.

All the political parties except EHAK have backed this plan, though they have presented several resolution proposals to improve it.

EHAK’s parlamentarian Julián Martínez has asked for the return of the plan to Basque Government since he considers that "the plan’s aim is not stopping the greenhouse gases emission and he thinks that the politics of the Executive against climate change is not the correct one".
