05/07/2008

The meeting will take place at 10:00 a.m. De la vega has released that Zapatero will again warn Ibarretxe that Spanish government "will not take a train without knowing its direction".

The president of the Spanish government José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the Basque Prime Minister Juan José Ibarretxe will meet at Moncloa Palace (the residence of Spain ’s Prime Minister) in Madrid on Tuesday, May 20th at 10:00 a.m., according to Spanish Executive sources.

The meeting will be focused on Basque Country’s political future and about the "waybill" of the so-called Ibarretxe’s plan and will take place on May 20th after 10:00 a.m. in La Moncloa.

Zapatero has finally been able to talk with Ibarretxe on the phone this evening after several unsuccessful attempts and they have both set the data for the meeting.

Spanish deputy Prime Minister María Teresa Fernández de la Vega has already released this evening that in this meeting, the Spanish president will warn Ibarretxe that government "will not take a train without knowing its direction" and that it is "an adventure, and in many occasions an already wasted adventure" in relation to his "waybill", which includes the announcement of a referendum.

Besides, De la Vega has emphasized that in the Basque Country and in any other self-governing community, any advance project in the self-government must be done in the frame of Constitution, because "nobody can expect to impose his project" to the rest of the citizens.
