Basque government considers that the imprisonment of the mayor of the Basque town of Arrasate-Mondragón, Ino Galparsoro (Basque leftist party ANV), "even if her behavior against ETA crimes is unacceptable”, does not get us close to peace or political normalization".
In a communiqué, Basque executive points out that "politics of the past will not solve any problems". Due to this, he assures that the imprisonment of leading members of the Outlawed Basque party and ANV elects –the last case, the mayor of the Basque town of Arrasate-Mondragón, "even if her behavior against ETA crimes is unacceptable and deserves society’s moral sentence, does not get us close to peace or political normalization".
After ETA’s attacks in the last few days, the Basque government considered "unacceptable the fact that there are some people who try to stand out on May 1st, employment institutions with bombs".
The Executive of Juan José Ibarretxe has declared that "ETA’s violence is useless" and has warned that "they will never achieve any of their aims". Because of this, he has demanded ETA to "disappear once and for all from our lives and to let us live and decide the way we want about our future, because we will never let ETA to decide about Basque Country’s political future".
Rubalcaba and CGPJ demand "respect"
On the other hand, the Interior Minister Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba has demanded “respect” for National Audience’s sentence over the imprisonment of Galparsoro and has warned "the ones planting bombs" will "sooner or later" be in prison.
The spokeman of General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) Enrique López has also asked Basque governement to respect judicial decisions.
