Basque premier Juan José Ibarretxe showed his appreciation for “the effort Basque police makes day after day” and warned the Basque armed group ETA that they will not manage to stop Basque society with their actions.

Ibarretxe showed his solidarity with the Basque Socialist Party PSE-EE, with the seven police officers injured and with Basque police in general.

In the name of Basque society, he said to Basque police “he appreciates the effort they make day after day to defend Basques’ rights”.

“It is curious that once Basque society is looking forward, ETA is looking backwards, to the destructive past we do not want to go back. It is obvious that ETA wants to stop Basque society, but they will not manage to do it”, he concluded.
