Two small bombs exploded Sunday near the town of Azpeitia in northern Basque region, causing minor damage near a television transmitter, regional police said. No injuries were reported.
A telephone warning claiming to come from the Basque separatist group ETA was received at 11:00 a.m. (0900 GMT) by the road emergency service DYA saying an explosive device had been placed near the transmitter.
Police cordoned off an area around the building, but when nothing happened bomb disposal officers inspecting the site found that two very small explosions had happened next to a door, a Basque police spokesman said on condition of anonymity in keeping with force rules.
ETA last targeted a television transmitter in February when a shoe box-sized bomb caused considerable damage, but no injuries. A powerful car bomb exploded March 21 outside a police station in Calahorra, also after an ETA warning. One officer was slightly injured.
