Thousands of Basques met at midday on Saturday outside their town and city halls to protest against the murder of Isaías Carrasco, a former Socialist town councilor at the town of Arrasate/Mondragón in Gipuzkoa.
Convened by the Association of Basque Municipalities Eudel, the protests took place outside all the Basque town and city halls for fifteen minutes.
Eudel condemned the attack on Friday and warned that "whoever attacks any citizen, attacks the Basque society itself".
The press statement added that "ETA is not wanted here" and insisted that "only through democracy and respect to human life shall we all achieve peace".
