Basque police arrested at least three people Thursday on suspicion of belonging to an Islamic terror cell, a radio station reported.

The arrests were made in Vitoria-Gasteiz, capital of the Basque Country, and the cell is suspected of raising money for jihad, or holy war, activities, Cadena Ser radio said.

The cell is suspected of distributing CDs and MP3 files containing propaganda calling for the Islamic community to wage jihad, or holy war, Basque police said in a statement.

Police began investigating the three in December. There were no immediate details on the nationalities of the detainees.

Spanish authorities were not immediately available to comment on the report.
