Spanish High Court judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska will take on Friday evening the statement of Igor Portu, a suspected ETA member arrested in Arrasate still in hospital, official sources reported.

Portu, who suffered several injuries after being arrested last Friday, is in the Donostia hospital in the Basque city of Donostia-San Sebastian. There are no data about his health condition.

On Friday and in Madrid, Fernando Grande-Marlaska will also take the statement of Mattin Sarasola, the other presumed ETA member arrested in Arrasate.

Presumed mistreatment

A judge of the Basque regional court took this week Igor Portu's statement concerning the injuries he suffered when he was arrested last Sunday.

The Donostia-San Sebastian court opened an investigation to determine whether Portu was injured illegally after a medical report from the Donostia hospital which reported Igor Portu had a broken rib and a punctured lung.

Once the preliminary proceedings are over, the judge has to decide whether to follow the investigation or not.
