ETA predicts "long years of conflict" in the Basque Country as a consequence of the choice the Spanish PM José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero to suspend dialogue with the armed band and considers "sooner or later" they will "have to "go back to that path."

In an interview published on the Basque newspaper Gara, the armed Basque group ETA accuses the Spanish PM of "going back to the past" and following "the path" of former Spanish presidents such as José María Aznar and Felipe González.

The so-called Basque conflict must not be considered in a "military sense" because it has "political roots" and , in that sense, it is not possible a "military defeat or a police victory," ETA thinks.

Concerning the Basque nationalist party PNV and the so-called "Ibarretxe proposal", ETA says the Basque president has created a tool to represent a fake clash with Spain to make all the way through to the 2009 election but, after all, it is not nothing but a "new fraud."

ETA reasserts its demands for autonomy and territoriality and says the Basque Country has "the right to its own development" as well as Scotland or Kosovo and adds it will keep on fighting to achieve it despite the "state's terrorism".
