Many people thinks that Che failed, that he did not expand his revolution, that he first made a mistake in Congo and then in Bolivia. However, the strangest thing is that Che's aims are more probably to be achieved today in America, forty years after his death, than ten or twenty years ago.
During a long time, Cuba was completely isolated in America and nowadays, Cuban government has many allies who help him to survive politically and economically, especially Venezuela and Bolivia. And, the most interesting thing is that the seeds of revolution Che left are still there, anxious to spring up. It is taken for granted that there is no place in the world for social revolutions, that capitalism has already won everywhere, that globalisation has eliminated class struggle. And if we see old Europe or new Asia, it seems to be true, and in Africa there is no place for revolution because hunger is a great problem there.
But in South America something is happening, Left parties are very strong in many countries and some political leaders are taking measures in order to eliminate social disparities. Native movements must also be taken into account. This is not a Marxist revolution or guerrillas like those of the 70th decade, but in South America there is still place for utopia.
