As the director of the department of Relations with Basque Communities, Josu Legarreta, explained at a press conference, the participants of the Congress of Basque Communities wrote a document with 56 proposals to be studied by congress members and the Advisory Council until September 30. Then, the plan for 2008 to 2011 will be elaborated.
Legarreta noted that, among the proposals, the creation of a museum about Basque migration stands out. Thus, a report on the characteristics "of all the important museums on immigration around the world" will be written to develop the project.
"At the time being, a report is under way for a final proposal, but we haven't reached a conclusion because it is a complex issue," he added. He admitted the location of the museum has not been decided yet.
In turn, Legarreta affirmed that within the next four years the fields to tackle jointly will be the following: social assistance and solidarity with Basques suffering hardships, Basque culture and language, the image abroad and communication, youths' training and recovery of historical memory.
