Popkomm is all about music: its future will be discussed at the Conference, contacts will be established and contracts set up at the Exhibition. But music can be experienced most intensely at the Popkomm Festival, which is not only Europe’s biggest showcase event, but one of the largest anywhere in the world.
With several hundred performances, in 2008 the Popkomm Festival will again provide an outstanding opportunity for artists, industry experts, music fans, producers and consumers to meet with one another and experience the thing that links them all: good music.
"Sounds of Spain" is a section of the festival that usually hosts bands from the state. That way, people like Aaron Thomas, last winner of Pop-Rock Villa de Bilbao contest and son of rock legend Lonnie Lee, can perform in Berlin. He writes high-energy songs that can be positioned somewhere between Dylan, Bowie and Tom Waits. The Basque - Argentineans Capsula make 60s-influenced psychedelic rock, garage and new wave. Last act of the night is the Spanish metal band Hora Zulu, who are introducing their new album Creer Querer/Querer Creer. The three of them play in Kulturbrauerei/SODA concert hall on October 8 at 8, 30 pm.
