Meryl Streep receives Donostia Award

Meryl Streep received the Donostia Award at Zinemaldia Film Festival in Donostia-San Sebastian yesterday as an homage to her career when she feels "proud of being an actress in a crucial moment for the art, necessary element to bring cultures closer", assured in her speech of gratitude.

She received this award, which was also given to the Spanish actor Antonio Banderas in this edition, trying to honor an actress whose career "has never been guided by strategic reasons", stated Streep yesterday some hours before the Spanish actor Eduardo Noriega and filmmaker and member of the jury Jonathan Demme gave her the award.

Streep looked excited and "proud" of receiving the Donostia award.

As she has two children, the protagonist of Out of Africa could not accept the invitation to attend the festival before.

Noriega introduced Streep as "one of the best actresses in the history of cinema with great technique and an exquisite sensibility".
