Spanish judge asks Interpol to find Basque militant

Judge Eloy Velasco wants to question Iñaki de Juana Chaos over whether he praised terrorism the day he got out of prison. De Juana was convicted in 1989 of killing 25 people as a member of the armed Basque group ETA.

A Spanish judge has asked Interpol to serve a summons on a notorious Basque militant who was released from jail in August after serving 21 years for murder and other crimes.

Judge Eloy Velasco wants to question Iñaki de Juana Chaos over whether he praised terrorism the day he got out of prison. In Spain, it is a crime to praise terrorism. De Juana Chaos is believed to be living in Dublin, Ireland.

In an order released Tuesday, the judge asked the Interpol office in Madrid to ask Interpol in Dublin to serve the summons.

De Juana Chaos was convicted in 1989 of killing 25 people as a member of the armed Basque group ETA.
