Vitoria-Gasteiz is hosting its ‘Azkena’ Rock Festival on Thursday 4, Friday 5 and Saturday 6 of September. Concerts will take place at two stages of Mendizabala premises, next to Mendizorroza Sports Center in the Basque capital.

Seventh edition counts on several outstanding artists but with no stars fading the rest of the bands. Azkena’s venues include performances of John Cale, Ray Davies, Lemonheads or The Sex Pistols, mythical names that are accompanied by other Basque and Spanish rising rock bands in the program.

Thursday’s line up opens with Lagartija Nick (Granada, Spain) at 6:25 pm. Desert rock band Yawning Man, Hayseed Dixie, Radio Moscow, The Boss Hoss, Marky Ramone (former drummer of The Ramones) and Lemonheads complete the first day’s program.

Viaje a 800 (from 2:30 pm), Basque Sorkun, Animal Alpha, Truly, Hanoi Rocks, Blue Cheer, The Sonics, Danko Jones, Ray Davies (former member of The Kinks), Sex Pistols, Blind Melon and The Quireboys are playing on Friday 5.

‘ARF’ concludes on Saturday 6 with Las Culebras (Navarre, 2:30 pm), The Royal Cream, Baby Woodrose, Sex Museum (Madrid), John Cale (former member of The Velvet Underground) & Band, Orange Goblin, Duff Mckagan’s Loaded, The Gutter Twins, The Jayhawks, Dinosaur Jr., Los Lobos and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
