'Lehendakari' – Basque President Juan Jose Ibarretxe announced on Monday that the Basque tripartite - nationalist Parties PNV and Eusko Alkartasuna with Basque Leftist Party (Ezker Batua - Berdeak) – is calling citizenship in order to sue Spain. Counting on the European justice, Ibarretxe’s government will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on the 16th of September in case the Constitutional Court disproves the consultation law.

Deadline for Constitutional court to decide if Basque consultation law is invalid or not is the 15th of September. If Basque nationalists must face a negative resolution they will sue the Spanish government at Strasbourg Court arguing that Spain is breaking the European Treaty of Human Rights.
