Antonio Basagoiti, who was up to now the president of the PP in Biscay obtained 82,3 percent of support from the delegates attending the 12th Basque PP Congress. Thus, they elected him as the new leader of the conservative party PP in the Basque Country, substituting Maria San Gil, in a session that developed in a very quiet atmosphere.
Basagoiti, who was the only Basque PP candidate for presidency, obtained 284 favorable votes out of the 347 cast votes, since 61 delegates voted blank and there were also two null votes.
