British police appealed for information on Thursday following the death of two French students in a fire in an apartment in South East London.
Officers at Scotland Yard said the bodies of two twenty year old men were found on Sunday night.
Police believe Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez were stabbed and bound before the fire was started.
"The cause of the death was multiple injuries to the head, neck, torso and back. Both appear to have been bound during this incident," DCI Mick Duthrie told journalists at a news conference. "The extent of the injuries are horrific," he said.
Duthrie said there had been a break in at the apartment six days before the incident and a laptop was stolen and a man was seen running away from the scene of the fire.
The two students where studying at Imperial College in the capital.
