Five activists from the organisation PETA - the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - undressed near the Spanish embassy in Paris on Tuesday to condemn the treatment of bulls during next month traditional bull fights and running of bulls in Pamplona/Iruña, Navarre.

Stephanie Rebato, Spokesperson for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, (PETA) said the animals are mistreated: "Bulls are drugged before they are released to run, they are beaten to death with bats, with sticks."

The Spanish authorities refused to allow the demonstration in front of the embassy so PETA animal rights defenders marched scantily-clad to the Pont de l'Alma nearby chanting and posing for the press across from the Eiffel tower.

The protesters called on the defenders of animal rights to join them on 5 July in Pamplona/Iruña, where they will hold a naked human race to mock the traditional running of the bulls that will begin two days later when the San Fermin summer bull-running festival opens.

They're hoping to gather about a thousand people from twenty different countries to join them in the naked human race in Pamplona/Iruña.
