Police are questioning a 39-year-old man who said he killed his wife and 7-year-old daughter, whose bodies were then found in his home in the Austrian capital, police said Wednesday.
Authorities also discovered the bodies of the man's parents and father-in-law in Upper Austria province, and are questioning him in those deaths as well, police spokeswoman Karin Strycek said.
The man came to a Vienna police station early Wednesday and said he had killed his wife and daughter, Strycek said.
Police found the bodies at his home in an affluent part of the city, and determined the two had been killed with an ax, the spokeswoman said. The Austria Press Agency reported that the daughter's corpse was found in a walk-in closet.
Strycek said authorities also found the bodies of the man's parents and father-in-law in Linz and Ansfelden, and are investigating a possible connection. According to the Austria Press Agency, the man has also confessed to the three other killings.
Other details were not immediately available.
