Progenika receives the keys to the city of Cambridge in U.S.

Progenika Biopharma S.A. has received during the official opening ceremony of its installations in Cambridge, MA, the key to the city from the Mayoress Denise Simmons herself.

As it is explained in its webpage, Progenika Biopharma S.A. is a privately owned Spanish company founded in April 2000, with the aim of designing and developing tools for Personalized Medicine. The company develops and manufactures novel DNAchips for Genotyping that can be used in the diagnosis and prognosis of human diseases. More than 60 scientists work at Progenika, whose state of the art facilities are situated in the Bizkaia Technology Park in the outskirts of Bilbao (Spain).

Last April 29th, Progenika received in an important economic and social event the token of gratitude of the American city of Cambridge, Massachussets, birthplace of world’s biotechnology, due to the quality and compromise of management project in the legendary campus of MIT.

Mayoress Denise Simmons, availed herself of the official opening of Progenika’s installations to give honor keys of the city to Juan Miguel Retolaza, President of the company. At the same time, he thanked American local, state and governmental authorities for their "tremendous backing and support given to Progenika, in its determined bet to consolidate as a first level referent in the American competitive market of personalized medicine".

Mr. Greg Bialecky, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development of Cambridge and Mr. Charles Skuba, Chief of Staff for Market Acess and Compilance in the International Trade Administration of the federal government took part in the event. To finish with, two representatives of the Basque government -Tontxu Campos Granados, Education, Universities and Investigation Counselor and Gabriel Mª Inclán Iribar, Basque government’s Health Counselor- made a speech.

Antonio Martínez, founder of Progenika, thanked all the people there for.

In Progenika’s laboratories in MIT campus in Cambridge, the current 15 scientists team work closely with the 100 employees in Derio (Bizkaia, Basque Country), with the aim of consolidating Progenika as the world leading company in the competitive field of the Personalized Medicine.
