It is a uniquely Idaho cheer, because it is in Basque. You are not going to hear this anywhere else", Bieter said at a rally standing for Obama.

The Basques and Euskera, one of the oldest languages in Europe, hit the headlines and claimed its place within the race to the White House in Boise on Tuesday night.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, of Basque descent, stood for Obama during a rally at the Qwest Arena and ended his speech leading the crowd in a cheer using the traditional Basque words, Nathaniel Hoffman reported for Paleomedia.org.

"I am going to end with a cheer. The last time I used this was at the fiesta bowl, when Boise State won the fiesta bowl. It is a uniquely Idaho cheer, because it is in Basque. You are not going to hear this anywhere else", Bieter said.

"It is one word … and the word is "Gora". It spells g..o…r..a" Gora is the Basque word for andale or yalla, a way to hail someone.

"I am going to say "Gora Obama" and I want you all to say Gora.. right, let's try!, ready, One, two, three.. Gora Obama! Gora! Gora Obama! Gora!", Bieter said before leaving the stage.
