Igor Portu has testified before the judge about his injuries as a consequence of his arrest. He said that he put up no resistance and that he was beaten by Spanish Civil Guard agents from the moment he was arrested to the moment he was taken to Lesaka for the searching.

The report of the alleged Basque armed group ETA member sets Martín Sarasola and Igor Portu’s arrests around eleven in the morning next to a school and houses in Mondragon/Arrasate where there were also “3 or 4 police patrols”.

He was asked for his identity card and searched and moved to the back side of a vehicle and two agents “started punching him, especially the co-driver, according to the presumed ETA member.

Portu says he was taken through a road down to a river “to a kind of port” near Arrasate , " where he saw the other detainee.

There, according to what he testified "they went on beating and threatening to kill him” and at that moment he heard a shot “and thought he was going to be killed”.

Portu explains that they kept on hitting him and put his head under water until he was breathless, which was repeated twice or thrice.

He was driven to what he thought that was Intxaurrondo Headquarters and on his way, he was hooded and received “very strong beats on his ribs and chest”.

Taking this into account, his testimony coincides with a witness’s version and contradicts the version of Spanish Interior Minister Rubalcaba.
