Igor Portu, moved to Martutene prison

According to medical and jail sources, the alleged ETA member arrested on Sunday has left hospital a day after the judge ordered his imprisonment. He will stay for five more days.

Igor Portu, arrested on Sunday accused of being a member of the Basque armed group ETA and hospitalized fifteen hours after in Donostia Hospital, has been moved to Martutene prison in Donostia-San Sebastián, as some news agencies reported.

According to them, Portu has abandoned Donostia Hospital in the early morning and has been driven to prison after the National High Court’s Judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska ordered yesterday unconditional imprisonment for him. Portu denied declaring.

As Grande-Marlaska ordered, the detainee will remain five more days isolated. The Judge has attributed him Baraja’s attack.

Portu was hospitalized last Monday, fifteen hours after his arrest in Arrasate with his ninth left rib broken. He had also a pierced lung and blows in his eye, back and chest. His knees and ankles were also torn.

According to the official version, the detention was made with violence though yesterday, a witness assured in a declaration that the detention had been “fair”. Portu’s family has denounced that he has been tortured and almost all political partied have ordered an investigation to clarify what happened.

Besides, Donostia-San Sebastián’s Court, in charge of the investigation, will receive today the witness’ declaration and will decide whether include it or not to the investigation.
