Spanish President José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and conservative leader Mariano Rajoy valued the sentence of the Madrid 2004 train bombings in two press conferences on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero remembered the victims of the train bombings and addressed himself to relatives of the dead. "Nothing can make up for the loss, but now their suffering can be alleviated by knowing the truth of what happened and who did it," Zapatero said.
"Justice was done," Zapatero said and thanked the police and the court for their work.
Mariano Rajoy, leader of the PP, said he supports the inquiry that led to the train bombing sentence and added he will continue supporting "any other" investigation that brings to justice the presumed masterminds of the bombings.
Rajoy also remembered the victims and their relatives and friends. "The heart of all the Spaniards is with them," he said.
