Apart from the announcement of the armed organisation in which calls off ceasefire it also refers to Basque-French area, France considers “the Basque problem as Spanish problem”.

France has reaffirmed Tuesday its solidarity with Spain “in the fight against ETA’s terrorism”, after the announcement of the armed organisation that they will call off March 2006 ceasefire midnight.

“France always supports Spain in the fight against terrorism and the attempts of finding a democratic solution”, said the spokesman of the Eliseo, David Martinon.

ETA announced Tuesday they call off ceasefire from midnight on and “all the front are opened”, said in an announcement made to the Basque newspapers Gara and Berria.

Although ETA mentions the three Basque-French provinces, Martinon reminded that France considers “ETA to be Spain’s problem”.

The French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, in his visit to Spain on Thursday, communicated the same message to the Spanish President, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, said the spokesman.

“We consider the Basque problem as a Spanish problem”, though “the have French official, policemen, judges, working on that”, added Martinon, who refused to make comments on it.
