42nd Jazzaldia presents its most brilliant and complete program

The 42nd edition of the Heineken Jazzaldia (Heineken San Sebastian Jazz Festival) will take place in the Basque City of Donostia-San Sebastian from the 24th to the 29th of next July presenting the most complete and brilliant program of its history.

A great number of stars and of interesting groups will complete an overwhelming vision of Jazz and its surrounding music. Elvis Costello, Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Bryan Ferry, Isaac Hayes, Gotan Project, Sly & The Family Stone, Madeleine Peyroux, Neneh Cherry, Marcus Miller Wayne Shorter, Gary Burton, Brad Mehldau and Horace Andy are some of the names in the program.

The recent opening of the Victoria Eugenia Theatre will add more venues to the Festival. Stacey Kent, Pedro Iturralde and Van Der Graaf Generator have already confirmed their shows at the Theatre. Victoria Eugenia Theatre and its club downstairs will be added to the Kursaal Auditorium, the Plaza de la Trinidad and the Kursaal Terraces to offer more than 70 concerts in only 6 days.

This year’s edition of the Heineken Jazzaldia will have a unique characteristic under several coincidences. It will be a Festival of extraordinary associations: Pat Metheny with Brad Mehldau, Elvis Costello and Allen Toussaint or Chick Corea together with Gary Burton are three wonderful examples It will also be a Festival of singers: Elvis Costello, Bryan Ferry, Madeleine Peyroux, Stacey Kent, Neneh Cherry, Isaac Hayes, Horace Andy, Sly Stewart and Anne Hampton Callaway put together a great vocal program.

And this edition will introduce an interesting group of names that will guarantee surprises and new discoveries: Hadouk Trio, Bojan Z., David Walters, Rose, Cassius and the local groups that will be picked from a selection that is being held nowadays in different venues of the city. And finally the groups that will play on the Green Stage will be an attractive program full of variety in itself: Gotan Project, Skatalites, Horace Andy, Cirkus featuring Neneh Cherry and the Matthew Herbet Big Band will be among them.
