French presidential campaign getting boiling hot

A conservative Deputy accused the Socialist presidential candidate Ségolène Royal and her partner François Hollande – First Secretary of the Socialist Party - of tax evasion.

It’s amazing how the French presidential campaign is going on. There are still three months until the first round, but it seems that it’s just one week. Tax issues are stirring up the campaign.

A conservative Deputy accused the Socialist presidential candidate Ségolène Royal and her partner François Hollande – First Secretary of the Socialist Party - of tax evasion. As soon as possible Royal and Hollande made public their tax declaration to clear up any doubt.

But more surprising is the fact that both socialists do not coincide in their taxation policies. A few days ago Hollande announced he wants to raise taxes, whether Royal said this proposal is not part of her policy programme.

Next, Royal’s spokesman, Arnaud Montebourg, scoffed at Hollande, which brought the socialist candidate to suspend him.

Royal also went frontally against the Socialist party hierarchy, ignoring them during the campaign, which increased discontent in the Socialist party.

Meanwhile, the Conservative party, more divided than the Socialist party, takes advantage of the situation to promote an image of unity and popular proposals, such as that law that will guarantee a housing to all French. It’s not surprising to see how that conservative candidate Sarkozy is beating Royal in recent opinion polls, whereas previous polls putted Royal ahead.
