Spain’s Supreme Court agreed on Thursday the banning of the Basque leftist party EHAK, accused of links to the armed Basque group ETA, after considering the lawsuits brought by the Spanish Government and the Public Prosecutor’s office.

The EHAK has nine members in the Basque parliament. The Spanish government has accused it of having links to ETA.

The decision was taken unanimously after a brief deliberation and only two days afer the Supreme Court banned the Basque leftist party ANV.

On February, National Court Judge Baltasar Garzon barred Basque Nationalist Action (ANV) and the Communist Party of the Basque Lands (EHAK) for three years on the grounds that they were linked to Batasuna, outlawed political wing of the armed Basque group ETA.

Basque Nationalist Action (ANV) was outlawed last Tuesday.
