Special clothing for Sanfermines

Thinking of fiestas clothing in Pamplona/Iruña, we don’t have to be worried about it as anything goes. Many citizens may even put on fancy dresses just for fun.

Anyway, there is special clothing for Sanfermines, as most inhabitants dress in a particular way: a red bandana around their neck will surprise foreigners. It is just for show, and they are very easy to get as they are sold everywhere across the city.

The typical gear consists of white shirt and trousers for males and white blouse and skirt for females. Most citizens wear them.

Concerning shoes, runners are the most comfortable. "Alpargatas" are the traditional footwear, which are white peasant slippers with a red strap, but are really impractical, though. They don’t prevent broken glass from sticking into feet or keeping them from getting dirty.

Locals also wear a red sash despite it’s becoming less popular. It is useful if the knot is perfectly done so that it does not get undone.

To sum up, most citizens who enjoy Sanfermines dress in white, wear sport shoes, a red bandana, and in some cases also a red sash which is not as popular as the previous items.

Otherwise, dressing comfortably is the best piece of advice to enjoy Sanfermines!
